Our guidance is not very helpful, they do not keep you informed and aren’t helpful with college prep, applying to college, or scholarships available.

Scott County Public Schools do the best they can with limited resources. Facilities are average and college readiness is as well. The best thing the school system does is create a safe, caring climate. Science and technology are are little behind the mainstream, but are improving. The athletic programs are very good, but there seems to be a decline in participation, especially in football.

I have had a great experience with Scott County Schools as a student. All of the teachers really care about every student they have but the county wants them to teach to a state test rather than making sure students are ready for college. There are so many things I do not know how to do that I will need in college. I just started my senior year and I did not even know how to make a cover letter for a college application. I have asked some of my fellow class mates if they know how to write a check, pay a bill, put in a job application, etc. and almost every person I asked had no idea how to do any of those things
