Obituary for Jane Veronica Krakowiak at Decker-Givnish Funeral Home (2024)

Jane Veronica (Miczenski) Krakowiak of Warminster, PA passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Sunday, June 23, 2024, at Ann’s Choice, Warminster, PA. She was 91.

Jane was born on March 7, 1933, in Philadelphia to the late Marjan and Mary (Siwozat) Miczenski. She will be sadly missed by her son John (Cynthia), daughter Arlene (Andrew) Cymerman, grandchildren Teresa (Gary) Roach, Joseph (Catherine) Cymerman, Mary (Michael) King, Monica (Benjamin) Kostenbader, Anna (Brian) Ashleson, Michael Cymerman, Rose (Joshua) Wood, and 9 great grandchildren Abram Kostenbader, Elliott King, Luke Cymerman, Zachary King, Hanna Cymerman, Evelyn Roach, Colin King, Raphael Kostenbader, and Natalie Wood.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years Z. John Krakowiak and her brother Stanley J. Miczenski.

Jane grew up in the Port Richmond section of Philadelphia attending St. Adalbert’s Grade School graduating with the Class of 1947. Jane was a member of the Class of 1951 at Nazareth Academy graduating with honors.

Jane and John met on New Year’s Eve 1951 and were married on September 27, 1953, at St. Adalbert’s Roman Catholic Church. They honeymooned in Niagara Falls, NY.

The newlyweds first settled in Mayfair (St. Timothy’s Parish) and then moved in February 1970 to Rhawnhurst (Resurrection of Our Lord Parish).

Jane’s career as a bookkeeper began at Nazareth Hospital and then after marrying John, she worked at Arthur Murray Dance Studio until their son John was born. A stay-at-home Mom for 13 years until 1968 when Arlene was in 5th Grade she returned to work part-time as a bookkeeper for Nelson Supply Company in the Frankford section of Philadelphia. Jane was also bookkeeper for John’s business – J.K. Auto Repair. Jane retired from bookkeeping in 2002 after working for Advertiser’s Press.

Jane did not learn how to drive but she was the family trip planner. Road trips down the East Coast to Washington, DC, Williamsburg, VA, Clearwater, FL, north to the NY World’s Fair, and Midwest to Chicago, IL and Albert Lea, MN using the trusty AAA Trip-Tik map books with the route highlighted as a guide. She found many interesting places along the way to visit like the New Melleray Abbey in Dubuque, IA. She overcame her fear of flying to plan the family’s first trip to Poland to meet John’s family and friends he had to leave behind because of World War II. Jane and John returned 9 more times to Poland. They enjoyed wonderful trips together, cruises to Aruba, through the Panama Canal, bus trips to Memphis, TN, and the Catskills. Jane and John also returned to Niagara Falls at least 7 times. One of her favorite trips was to Italy which was highlighted by an audience with Pope John Paul II.

In July 2006, Jane and John moved to Ann’s Choice in Warminster, PA and became members of Nativity of Our Lord Parish in Warminster, PA. Jane enjoyed the many clubs and activities, especially not having to plan and cook dinners anymore. She was active in volunteering at Rose Garden, planning floor dinners, learning to use a PC, and attending the weekly Rosary group.

Jane was an avid Scrabble player and enjoyed completing large jigsaw puzzles on her desk. When she got her iPad, she discovered Words with Friends, Solitaire, and digital jigsaw puzzles. During the Covid lockdown, Jane used her iPad to keep in touch with her family through video chats.

But most of all, it was Jane’s prayer life that she will be remembered. Her devotion to the Blessed Mother and her Son, Jesus made lasting impressions on her family and friends. It started back in grade school when she was inducted into the Sodality of Our Blessed Lady. In the early 1980’s Jane would meet her daughter, Arlene, after work at the Miraculous Medal Shrine in Germantown on many Mondays for the Perpetual Miraculous Medal Novena. Another favorite devotion was the Chaplet of Divine Mercy. Jane’s daily rosary and prayers were said for many intentions, especially her 7 grandchildren. Jane passed away peacefully with the family reciting the Glorious Mysteries of the Rosary and John leading the Chaplet of Divine Mercy.

Family and friends are invited to Jane’s Life Celebration at Decker-Givnish Funeral Home, 216 York Road, Warminster, PA 18974 on Friday, July 5, 2024, from 6:00 -8:00pm and on Saturday, July 6, 2024, from 9:30 -10:15am. Jane will be laid to rest at Our Lady of Czestochowa Cemetery, Doylestown, PA

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Jane’s memory to the Ann’s Choice Benevolent Care Fund would be greatly appreciated. Donations can be sent to: Ann’s Choice; Philanthropy Department; 20000 Ann’s Choice Way, Warminster, PA 18974.
